The Canadian Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010

Designed by Saia Barbarese Topouzanov Architects, the pavilion’s architecture layers and weaves together a series of intertwined metaphors at different scales. Taastrup Theater in Denmark by COBE

Taastrup Theater in Copenhagen has recently undergone a renovation and extension project, courtesy of architecture firm COBE. The key focus of the COBE’s project was to improve the building’s communication with the surrounding area – a social housing neighbourhood in Taastrup. Originally constructed in the 1970s as a local community theatre, an opportunity arose to bring the bland concrete form back to life and to generate new links between the building and the local community. The ARIA Resort & Casino is a new LEED Gold Certified hotel building in Las Vegas Nevada. Designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, this is the centerpiece of CityCenter, an urban environment on a 67-acre site fronting the Las Vegas Strip. The 4,000-room hotel and casino is the tallest structure in CityCenter, redefining the Las Vegas skyline and creating a strong sense of space.
