Architecture Design of W Barcelona Hotel
The hotel has a commanding presence against Barcelona’s magnificent waterfront and skyline, and has already made its mark as a landmark in an ambitious urban renewal plan for Barcelona’s coastline. The 26-story, slender, sail-shaped W Barcelona sits perpendicular to the dock, showcasing unprecedented sea and city views from virtually every guest room. Global jetsetters and local tastemakers are already referring to the curved sandy and very exclusive bay adjacent to the hotel as Barcelona’s very own “Copacabana,” a reference that alludes to W Barcelona’s passion for design and fashion, which will be the key brand differentiators for this emblematic destination.
W Barcelona Luxury Hotel
This hotel design with reflecting facade of silvered glass blends harmoniously with the colors of the Catalonian sky and the sun drenched sparkles of the Mediterranean. Public functions are accommodated under a platform conceived as two huge terraces. A big congress room with a large window over the sea breaks with its volume the horizontal lines of the base of the building. The hotel will feature 473 guest rooms, including 67 suites, two WOW suites and one Extreme WOW suite. The hotel also features SWEAT state-of-the-art fitness facility outfitted with Technogym equipment featuring panoramic views of the Mediterranean, complemented by resident DJ sets to inspire high energy workout sessions.

Description from Ricardo Bofill
“A sail shaped building on a 10 hectares land claimed from the sea, is included in an ambitious urban renovation plan of Barcelona coastline. The hotel W Barcelona is a five star-hotel with 473 rooms, 67 suites, a roof top bar, large spa, indoor and outdoor pool, several food and beverage concepts and a retail store. The closest volume to the sea is a thin building 90 meters high perpendicular to the dike (1 underground level, 1 ground floor level and 26 storey). The reflecting façade of silver glass blends with the colours of the sky and the sparkles of the sea. Its allegoric shape is a reference point. This volume is inserted in the low atrium building, the lobby of which reveals views of the sea and enjoys zenith natural light. Public functions are accommodated under a platform conceived as two huge terraces. A big congress room with a large window over the sea breaks with its volume the horizontal lines of the base of the building.”
